We are DEFINITELY NOT singers, but we are darn pretty good speakers if I may say so.

We celebrated our 23rd birthday, and with that I meanMalaysian Association of Professional Speakers (MAPS) yesterday.

In retrospect, as I recalled my own journey in MAPS since 2009, I got emotional and nostalgic. Where I started, and what I get to do today.

I had the opportunity to do a very short sharing, and as associations has been a bigger part of my growth and learning, here are 2 things that has been important to me.

1. Come back. Turn up for the events as much as you can even if it’s a topic you know already. You never know what else you will learn. Plus the bonus is also networking and expanding your own resources and friendships.
2. Volunteer. The bigger part of any non-profit association is the spirit of volunteerism. This has been a bigger part of the work I did in my early years in associations. This takes up A LOT OF TIME. But it has been so worthwhile. We will never see the results and outcome then or even immediately. But trust me, you will experience it in time.

The spirit of any association is always important and for MAPS, it has always been about helping members to learn and grow definitely. And the abundance in sharing has always been top priority.

I want to thank MAPS for bringing me to where I am. Its home and my learning ground.
And MAPS has build and groom me as I venture into other roles now I hold as coach and facilitator as well.

A big thanks toDato Lawrence Chan ,1st Asia’s CSP. as founder and has always given me full support and encouragement while I was President.

Thank youKishvin Sirinavin andRizal Azis for the space to share yesterday.

Happy Birthday MAPS!🥰🥰
